Gary sings bass, Gwen sings alto, and Mary has been singing the lead part for Now & Forever Gospel Trio. We are very thankful and appreciative of Mary's willingness to continue singing at some of our functions and music ministries during 2007-2008, but Mary left us on a full-time basis beginning in 2007! We will miss her wonderful lead voice (she has been singing with us since 2000) and her wonderful spirit immensely, but understand her family commitments. Gary and Gwen will be singing as a "duo" for the most part from now on. However, Mary did sing with us at our May concerts(5/5/07 and 5/3/08) and we really appreciated that very much, and she sang at Summerset Baptist last summer and our October 13, 2007 Food Pantry Benefit Concert & Supper. Needless to say, we are very appreciative of her helping us out even on an occasional basis!!!!! Our next Food Pantry Concert & Supper is October 25, 2008, and hopefully, Mary will join us that evening as well.
We sing Southern Gospel music, old hymns, and new favorites. We believe that "today's choice determines tomorrow's reward!" What we mean by that is we believe that there must be a time when you have "knelt at the foot of the cross" and accepted Jesus for your Saviour. It is only by His blood shed and his redeeming grace that we can be saved. Our hope is that the music we sing will bring people to Christ and encourage those who are already Christians. It certainly encourages us to sing the words of those great gospel songs!
We sing at care centers, churches, and community events! We now have 6 CD's/cassettes: "Memories", "Something Old-Something New", "Come Morning", "Back Home" and "Reunion Day" and "Climbing Higher". The Climbing Higher CD includes songs such as: Amazing Grace,America The Beautiful, Blessed Be the Name, This Old House, He Set Me Free, I Need You More Today, Let the Lower Lights Be Burning, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, Just As I Am, Labor Of Love, Mine for the Asking, and Mary has a solo on this one entitled There's Still Forgiveness at the Cross. Gwen's brother, Roger, also has a recitation "Lord I'm Coming Home" which has a great message! We have a new CD nearly ready entitled "It's Still True" (which is the title song and also includes songs such as: Damascus Road, I've Never Been This Homesick Before, Thank God for Kids, Wings of a Dove, What a Beautiful Day for the Lord to Come Again, When I Get Carried Away, and more).

We had another successful May event on May 3, 2008! That was our 11th Annual Frederick & Marie Metcalf Memorial Concert and Supper On the Grounds (in memory of Gwen's parents). Very generous offerings were received for Children's Square USA (Council Bluffs, Iowa) and for Geon Children's Home (Seoul, South Korea)as well as grocery items for the Pleasantville Food Pantry. The delicious supper was catered by Indianola Hy-Vee (they always do an excellent job)! This event started with an attendance of about 50 and now has grown to the place we can only do it by invitation only due to limited space. The auction generated additional funds for the children's homes. Next year's event is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2009.
